International House Council Member appointed to Council of the National Library

Alice Wong

The Government has recently announced the appointment of IH Council member and Chair of the Advancement Advisory Committee Alice Wong to the Council of the National Library of Australia for a three-year term.

Ms Wong has almost 40 years of banking experience and brings a unique understanding of both Asian and Australian business, economies and trade. Ms Wong has been a member of the Prime Minister's Reference Group for the National Asian Languages and Studies in Schools program.

Recently retired as Head of Asian Leadership at the Westpac Group, Alice is currently undertaking a select number of independent consultancies in philanthropy, integrative health, and cross-cultural capability. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Director, is on the Institute of Public Administration Australia's Advisory Committee on engagement with Asia, and is a member of the Course Advisory Committee at Swinburne University of Technology.

She is the Patron of the Chinese Cancer Society of Victoria. She was a Board Member of Asialink, a member of the Advisory Committee of the Confucius Institute at the University of Melbourne, the Asia Society AustralAsia Centre and the Prime Minister's Reference Group for the National Asian Languages and Studies in Schools Program.

Alice is a strong supporter of International House and we wish her well in this new position.
