This area is the hub of students' social lives in the House, offering a relaxed, informal place for reading, chatting over a cup of coffee, catching up with the latest news or playing the piano.
The student shop, run by the Students' Club, is also located here.
The JCR is in the centre of the college, opening off the entrance foyer. Rear doors lead to a relaxing courtyard area with a fishpond and fountain set among beautiful rose gardens.
Adorning the walls are trophy cabinets with sporting trophies and honour boards bearing the names of past students who have received awards for academic achievement, leadership or other worthy contributions to the college.
Opportunities for student leadership are very important here at International House. Prestigious awards for leadership and good citizenship in the House are made each year.
These include the Sundarason Award for outstanding results and leadership over a three year period, and the Fraternitas Award for excellent citizenship, as well as a number of other awards in recognition of a student's contribution to the life of the House.

The Dimmick Dining Hall is the venue for all meals and for all official and ceremonial occasions within the House. National Theme Nights and Cafe International are also held here. The opportunities for conversation and the development of friendships over a meal make the Dining Hall the heart of the House.
Portraits of past Wardens and Council members adorn the walls of this grand hall and the national flags of students at International House are displayed in the hall.
Although meals are at fixed times, the Dining Hall remains open all day and late into the evening, and the informal gatherings and activities see many friendships forged as the year passes.
