Music program

International House gives students the opportunity to develop their skills in a multitude of areas. Part of this personal expansion involves students participating in a range of activities while using and acquiring different aptitudes with each new event. Music is a key outlet for many of our students both in terms of developing their own talents and enjoyment.

Music practice facilities are available to those needing them for their studies, for students preparing for performances or those just wishing to relax. Three soundproof music rooms include house pianos and drum kits, and three additional pianos (including two grand pianos) are available in public areas within the college.

As part of the music program, students can volunteer to be involved in an array of musical events. Actors, singers, dancers, managers, choreographers, musicians, food coordinators, artists, and technicians, all contribute to a successful performance or event.

All events during the year are organized by the students. Depending upon your own skills you may wish to coordinate some aspect of an event or choose to try out for a lead role. These opportunities provide for students a chance to develop new talents and work together as a community.

The main event of the year is Café International. Well-known for the impressive three course meal, complemented by top-class performances, the themed fundraiser brings the entire student community together.

Another fun evening is National Night. Two National Nights are held per year in which students highlight the culture of one country with food, dance, and performance. Recent nationalities include Dutch, Indian and Italian, and are filled with great food, entertainment and laughter.
