| International House has always been much more than just a place to stay. Students have someone available 24 hours a day 7 days a week to help with all issues, whether they be medical, emotional or academic.
International House prides itself on its supportive environment, and for first-year students who are dealing with more than just the academic changes, it is important to know that there is always a sympathetic and supportive network available. Resident and non-resident tutors help to maintain the academic and pastoral well-being of the House community. All residential tutors have pastoral care responsibilities for students. The transitions from secondary to tertiary study, from rural to urban living or from one country to another requires a fair amount of adaptation. There is also an increase in personal freedom and responsibility for oneself, which comes with leaving the protection of home and family. |
