Scholarship and Bursaries

A wide range of scholarships are available to students residing at International House, with the major scholarships listed below.  These scholarships are made possible by the generous support of private benefactors, commercial and philanthropic organizations, International House auxiliaries and friends of International House.  

 Entry Scholarships:

A range of scholarships and bursaries is available to first-year students entering International House.

Subject to satisfactory first-year results, many of these scholarships will continue into the recipient’s second year in the House.      

 

 

 

 

 The major half-fee accommodation entry scholarships available for local students are:   

 

Weickhardt Academic Potential Entrance Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded for one year to the student achieving the best result (final year secondary) of the previous year.  No specific application for this scholarship is necessary.

 

International House Entrance Bursaries

Two bursaries are awarded to students achieving an ENTER above 90 who are facing significant and quantifiable financial need. Applicants for these bursaries should include an indication of their history of and capacity for part-time work; a statement of  weekly expenses; parents' tax return information; any Centrelink benefit or Commonwealth income support payment details (such as Austudy, ABSTUDY, Youth Allowance etc); or, evidence of  Family Tax Benefit A support. Subject to good results, these bursaries will continue in the student's second year in the House.

 

General Scholarships

Two scholarships are awarded to students achieving an ENTER above 90 who have a history of good citizenship, both in their secondary schools and in their local communities, which best complements the purpose and vision of International House. Applicants for these scholarships should include a description of their involvement in their schools and local communities, providing appropriate documentation and the names and contact details of at least two referees. Subject to good results, these bursaries will continue in the student's second year in the House.

 

Rotary Club Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded for one year to a student achieving an ENTER above 90 from rural or regional Victoria who has a history of good citizenship, both in his or her secondary school and in the local community, which best complements the purpose and vision of International House. Applicants for this scholarship should include a description of their involvement in their schools and local communities, providing appropriate documentation and the names and contact details of at least two referees.

 

FAITH Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded for one year to a student achieving an ENTER above 90 from rural or regional Australia who has a history of good citizenship, both in his or her secondary school and in the local community, which best complements the purpose and vision of International House. Applicants for this scholarship should include a description of their involvement in their schools and local communities, providing appropriate documentation and the names and contact details of at least two referees.

 

Students who wish to apply for any of the above scholarships must lodge their applications for admission with International House by 31 December.

The Mavis Jackson Academic Potential Entrance Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded for one year to the student achieving the best result (final year secondary) of the previous year. Applications for this scholarship can be made by students enrolled in the House and are due in March 2010.

 

General Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student achieving an ENTER above 90 (or overseas equivalent) who has a history of good citizenship, both in his or her secondary school and in the local community, which best complements the purpose and vision of International House. Applicants for this scholarship should include a description of their involvement in their schools and local communities, providing appropriate documentation and the names and contact details of at least two referees. Subject to good results, these bursaries will continue in the student's second year in the House.

 

International House Entrance Bursary

One bursary is awarded to a student achieving an ENTER above 90 (or overseas equivalent) who is facing significant and quantifiable financial need. Applicants for this bursary should include an indication of their history of and capacity for part-time work; a statement of weekly expenses; and such official documentation as which may verify the degree of financial need of the applicant.   Subject to good results, this bursary will continue in the student's second year in the House.
